Argentina (Canadian Football and Archie) romped to a 106-91 beating of the Ivory Coast (The Giggs Boson and Mull) in Matchday 1, mainly thanks to CF’s super midfield double of Dzagoev and Mandzukic, and look like following this up with a win over Japan (Wazza and Djerbil), thanks to Archie’s Silva (C) and their double ownership of Czech goalscorer Pilar. Japan need to overturn a 26 point deficit in the final day to win.
They look to be favourites to qualify come the end of Matchday 3 with a likely 6 points and high goal difference.
Japan battled through out a closely fought contest with Serbia (Teddy and Messimerised) in Matchday 1, emerging 113-103 winners after some Group D heroics from St Ledger, Lescott and Ibrahimovic.
Sadly it looks like their winning form has stuttered, with 26 points to overturn in the last day of Matchday 2 vs Argentina. Iniesta, Ronaldo, Cassano and Muller all drew blanks for large parts of their shared budget, with Djerbil’s 13 point haul from Silva not looking like enough.
With 3 points on the board already, a result in their last game against the Ivory Coast should send them through, dependent on goal difference.

Serbia lost out to Japan in their first game in a high scoring tie, after a good start early on with the likes of Dzagoev, Mandzukic and Shirokov scoring vital points, they finished the 4th day with no players playing, and were overtaken by Japan who had 3 group D goalscorers.
In their second game though, they are well on their way to an important victory after Messimerised seems to have handed the armband to Silva, a highscoring player sadly missing from the Ivory Coast pair’s teams, to race ahead to a 23 point lead before the final day of games.
Their predicted 3 points would leave them in joint second place, barring any upsets in the other game, with a good chance of progression.

The Ivory Coast came into the tournament as strong contenders to get out of the group, but a few fantasy wobbles have led them to two defeats on the trot as described above, with Mull’s differentials of Thiago Motta and Fortuonis this week, and Afellay and Klose last week not paying dividends on the way to some disappointing scores. A bright point has been Giggs Boson’s ownership of Lescott and Ibrahimovic last week, and Pilar and Dzagoev this week, but it will take something very special from Lescott, Young, Gerrard and Benzema to overturn their 23 point deficit.
On the bright side, however, even with a second loss their campaign would not be not over yet, a strong victory, and results going their way in Matchday 3 could yet see them sailing out of the group in second place.

I’ll follow this up with precise permutations after the end of Matchday 2, when everything is clearer
